Brendan M'Goldrick and Ray O'Neill Photos
The visit to Massereene this year found the course in great condition and 33 members and visitors greatly enjoyed the golf and catering facilities. Our president Jim M'Alister has been scoring well this year and with 35 points he won the Overall prize by one point from Paul Mulgrew who had to be content with the Low section prize. There was unusually low scoring in the Mid section where new member L Boyle with 26 points won on a countback from three others. Danny Collins, a Massereene member, took the High section with 32 points and was the only player to record a two at the par3s to complete his best golf for years. Front9 went to another Massereene member - Paddy Collins, and Paul M'Quillan took the Back9 both had 16 points.

Fortyfive members and visitors turned up to compete for a very large selection of prizes provided by generous sponsorship. Seamus Maguire and Marty Rea both had 37 points and Seamus took the top prize on a countback of the last three holes. Kevin Fennell and Paddy Collins took third and fourth place with 35 points and Paul Mulgrew kept up his attempt to win the M'Callin and GOY trophies when his 34 points gave him fifth place. The top score of the day was recorded by sponsor Adrian Eastwood who scored 19 and 19 off a handicap of 11 and then had to rush away afterwards to play more golf at Ballyliffin.

The Mid went to Ray O'Neill on 34 points(John Dobbin beaten out even with 19 points on the Back9), and Kevin Fennell with 30 was well clear in the Low. Gerry Goodall was clear winner of the Front9 with 18 points and Jim M'Cafferty with 19 won the Back9 with 19(John Dobbin and Joe Loughran beaten in a countback). Paul Mulgrew with 36 points is now 7 ahead of Marty Rea in the GOY competition and also these two are separated by 2 points in the M'Callin with Brendan M'Goldrick close up third.
