THE FALLS BOWLING AND TENNIS CLUB
CONSTITUTION OF THE GOLFING SOCIETY
NAME
(1) The name of the Society shall be Fruithill Golfing Society.
OBJECTIVES:
(2) The Society shall organize golf outings and social activities for members.
MEMBERSHIP:
(3) Full membership is open to full members and associate members of Falls Bowling and Tennis
Club. Associate members to the Golfing Society may be admitted, subject to a maximum of up to 20%
of total membership, on the nomination of full members. An associate member shall not be entitled
to vote or take part on the committee of the society, but shall otherwise be entitled to all the
privileges of membership. An associate member shall be elected for one year only, but shall be
eligible for re-election if nominated.
(4) New members fees are payable on application. Renewal membership fees are payable up to and
including the 31st March of the current calendar year.
ELECTIONS:
(5) The officers and committee of the Society shall be elected at the Society annual general
meeting.
(6) Elections shall be conducted in accord with the provisions of Schedule one.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING:
(7) A general meeting of the Society shall be organized once annually.
(8) Each member is to be given four weeks notice of the Annual General Meeting.
(9) At the Annual General Meeting of the Society, the Secretary shall present a report on the
years activities.
(10) At the annual general meeting of the Society, the Treasurer shall account for the financial
position of the club
(11) In the absence of the Secretary or the Treasurer, the Captain shall report on behalf of the
respective officers.

COMMITTEE:
(12) The committee of the Society shall be made up as follows:- Captain, Vice-Captain, Secretary,
Treasurer, Past-Captain plus four ordinary members of the society.
(13) The members of the committee shall be elected at the annual general meeting of the
Society.
(14) The quorum for a meeting shall be five.
(15) The committee shall meet regularly for the transactions of the business of the Society.
(16) All issues before the committee shall be decided by majority vote but the chairman shall have
a casting vote in the event of a tied vote.
(17) The Committee Shall make such regulations from time to time as it may deem necessary for
conducting its meetings and may make byelaws not inconsistent with the rules and as it considers
necessary or desirable for the club. The bye laws should be approved by the annual general meeting
of the Society.
(18) When a Vacancy occurs in the committee a successor shall be elected by the Committee at the
meeting following the confirmation of a vacancy. Nominations for a vacancy shall be called for from
the membership, nominations to be proposed and seconded in writing.
(19) The Committee may appoint a subcommittee to carry out any special responsibility, or for any
other purpose, they may deem necessary in the interests of the Society.
(20) Any officer of the Society or member of the committee shall be deemed to have vacated his/her
post as authorized in schedule2.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF OFFICERS:
(21) The Vice-Captain shall automatically become the captain of the Society in the following
year.
(22) The captain will choose his/her vice-captain from those members elected to the committee.
(23) The Secretary shall fulfill the following responsibilities: (a) Preparing and distributing
notice of all meetings, functions, events, golf outings and other events as instructed by the
committee.

(b) Answer all enquiries relating to the Society; (c)Execute orders or resolutions of the
committee, the annual general meeting or a special general meeting; (d) Maintain a register of the
names and addresses of members; (e) Renew annual membership of the Golfing Union of Ireland; (f)
Perform other work as instructed and as appropriate to the office,
(24) The Treasurer shall receive all moneys belonging to the Society and lodge same as soon as
reasonable to the credit of the Society's bank account.
(25) Members shall receive reasonable notice of all Society events. (26) Any queries shall be
addressed to the Secretary of the Society.
