| The society finally completed 25 years in existence with Paul M'Quillan as captain. The year was marked by a fall in membership and in attendance at outings. Some members
who belonged to other societies and clubs obviously felt that they should concentrate on their other interests. Their contributions to the society in sponsorship and participation were missed but the
enthusiasm and hard work of newer members made up for the loss. |
| The captain and committee examined a number of proposals to celebrate the 25th. anniversary and eventually arranged an extra outing at Ballyliffin. This was sponsored by
some members themselves and the scores and handicaps were not included in the years competitions. An eventful day was completed in The Lake of the Shadows hotel where the Vice-captain Frank O'Rawe
won the outing and fifteen members returned home with prizes. Stevie M'Laughlin had a memorable day when he celebrated his stag night at Ballyliffin and then went off to Brazil to get married. |
| Gabriel Mulhern captured the Golfer of the Year and M'Callin Cup along with two other Overall wins and an appearance in the Fruithill Matchplay final where he was beaten
by Stevie M'Laughlin. Pat M'Corry and John M'Clory won the Maguire Fourball from Brendan M'Goldrick and Marty Rea where the match went to the 19th. hole. As usual the society shot itself in the foot
when Paul Gormley won two overall prizes and was later found not to be a member of Falls club. This resulted in the trophies being awarded to the next highest scorers at the outings and the M'Callin
and Golfer of the year scores being adjusted. |
| Membership fell to the mid fifties and attendances to an average of 32 members. Vice-captain Frank O'Rawe had 41 points at Tandragee where he was eight ahead of the next
challenger but 45 points from Frank Dalton at Dungannon was the top score of the year. Treasurer Joe Loughran had made himself unpopular at the AGM by having contributions raised but redeemed himself
at the end of the year by announcing a surplus which would be returned to the members. |
