| Leo M'Court's year as captain started with the major blow in February of losing our President Tommy Hannigan who died suddenly the day before the first outing was due to
take place at Mourne. The death of Tommy so unexpectedly after such a long association with Fruithill dampened the members enthusiasm for the new season very considerably. The society had barely
recovered from this first setback when the tragic death of former captain Dennis Flanagan again reminded everyone that the enjoyment of golf together as a group was not the only reason for life.
Dennis was a well liked and approachable person and it made acceptance of his untimely death all the more difficult. However it is one of the strengths of the society that those who knew Tommy and
Dennis will not forget the many happy times that they spent in their company. Jim Crawford agreed to accept the position of President and the society continued with its usual vigour. Thanks to the
sponsorship of Kieran Walsh the Hannigan Matchplay remained as a special event in the Fruithill calendar. |
| At the May weekend which was held for a second time at Buncrana, Lenny Griffiths returned 39 points and was cut 3 shots and section winner Proinnsias Byrne who had 38
points was cut 2 shots for his efforts. Eamonn Molloy represented Fruithill in the PGA Tankard competition at Baltray (All Ireland Finals) and came second. This was a really magnificent performance
and was a just reward for his efforts over the season. Eamonn ended as Golfer of the Year having won on Captains Day at Dungannon and again at Bright. The top score of the year was set by Gerry
Thompson with a 41 at Dungannon. |
| At the AGM the subject of the expense and difficulty of arranging matches in the various matchplay competitions brought forth the suggestion that such matches could be
played at outings and this was agreed for the future. |
| There was a poor turnout at the Annual Dance resulting in a loss of £350 on the event. This was later attributed to the venue (Falls Bowling Club) and also to the
fact that a Formal dress policy was not too popular any more |

| Eamonn Molloy who had a great season with the highlight being his performance in The PGA Tankard competition. |
