| The first five outings were won with 40 points or better. At Mourne Hugh Fitzsimmons on 41 beat Pat Hughes on 40. At Dungannon Joe Lawell with 42 beat John Glackin and
Stephen Thompson both with 40. Joe Murray won the Ballycastle outing with 40 points on a countback from Terry Colligan. Paul M'Quillan was out on his own with 40 points at Tandragee and Brendan
O'Hare won easily at Killymoon with the same total. Danny M'Ilroy took the Presidents prize at Ardglass with 42 points from Paul M'Quillan with 40 and Stephen Thompson finally won at Mourne with
40. |
| Membership numbers continued at a high level despite inflation (members were not happy with prices such as £13 for the outing at Killymoon which included a steak
dinner), and yet again required the sections to be rearranged to provide equal winning opportunities for all. This time they became Low 1-1- Mid 11-17 High 18-21 Xhigh 22-28 . |
| The weekend was held for the second time at Portpatrick in Scotland and was won by Jim Crawford who obtained some reward for his organizing efforts. The captain Pat
Collins was unable to attend the outing due to illness and Dennis Flanagan got a chance to try out his speechmaking for the following year. For the third time in the existence of the society a "Hole
in One" was recorded, this time by Hugh Fitzsimmons at the third at Tandragee. This year also saw the establishment of the West Belfast Societies Group and the society took part in the first
tournament at Cairndhu. |
| But as ever there were problems in the running of competitions especially in the M'Gowan Foursomes and more unfortunately on Captains Day when Michael Cunningham had the
highest points total but was disqualified from the Captains Prize but awarded the Sponsors prize on a technicality. The Dinner Dance at the Drumkeen Hotel finished off the year. |
