John Glackin had a year in which the society continued in its ramblings and went from the sublime to the ridiculous by having a weekend in Bundoran and a week in Portugal. Frank Bradley won the weekend outing early in the year but no record exists of the Portuguese winner. In memory of the late Tom Muldoon, a well respected member of the society, a trophy was presented by his sons-in-law, Michael M'Cann and Brendan O'Hare who were also members of Fruithill. It was won in the first year by Jim M'Cormick. Because of the continued large size of the society the sections were again reorganized and became Low 1-11 Mid 12-16 High 17-20 XHigh 21-28
The Golfer of the Year was shared between Frank Bradley and Brian Canning. It was decided that in future the last three cards would be examined in the event of a tie in this competition. Frank won the M'Callin Trophy and since he had also taken the weekend outing he was obviously playing well. Other winners were Carlo Fusco for a record fourth time in the Hannigan, Jim M'Cormick who added the Members Cup to the Muldoon Cup, and the pairing of Joe Dornan and Brendan O'Hare who won the M'Gowan Foursomes. High scoring was again the order of the day when Norman Fletcher started off at Mourne with 42 points. Later at Killymoon Hugh Fitzsimmons had 44 which was six clear of his nearest rival. At the final outing at Mourne Pat Trainor beat Danny M'Ilroy on a countback with both on 40 points
At the AGM the new constitution which had come into use at the beginning of the year had its first change when it was decided that all Fruithill fees would have to be paid by the members by the 31st of March in each year. Paying of fees in time had been a contentious issue over the previous years and even this change has not been rigidly adhered to.
The year was rounded off by an enjoyable Annual Dance in the Lansdowne Court Hotel where the cost of £8.50 per person was not considered as expensive.
