This was a year of consolidation for the society and membership reached a figure of 85 and admission to the society was closed as it was felt that the society was becoming too large. The Low, Mid, and High sections of the society were fixed at 1-12,13-18 and 19-24 respectively. The trophy won against Strathmore the previous year was still held and Strathmore had reformed as the Four Winds Society. It was decided to use the cup as the prize for the Members Competition which was a knockout competition for those who did not qualify for the Hannigan competition. The first winner was Paul M'Quillan who returned from England to take part in the final. The Golfer of the Year was to be determined in future by results over five outings and was won by Paddy Martin.
Changes were also made in regard to the Captain's Prize with members now having to play in half of the outings in order to qualify. Financial changes were also made with the society contributing £35 to the prizes on Captain's Day, the captain and secretary being awarded £5 each for expenses and finally the captain being granted free outings from now on. Another notable change was the banning of card games at outings. A Week in Spain was suggested for first time and though it did not happen the society arranged two weekends for Rossnowlagh and Carrickmacross. The first was poorly attended but the second was a great success perhaps because it was sponsored by the Irish Tourist Board to the extent of £1 per person! The society affiliated to the GUI and two teams were entered in the Belfast Telegraph competition with the A team being narrowly pipped for first place by a single point.
During the year the Treasurer Liam Bergin departed to England and Frank M'Gowan took up his duties with Jim Crawford and Ben M'Callum being co-opted onto the committee. The Annual Dinner at Balmoral must have been a great event as 178 members and guests attended. The noteworthy event of the year was that Basil M'Laughlin Snr. was made a Life-member of the society.
